Planet Hope

About the Project

Planet Hope
"Learning to succeed."

Disadvantaged individuals often lack proper education due to the insufficient provision of resources. How can we ensure equal access to education for all?

Planet Hope has worked alongside the Australian Red Cross to educate young mothers on vital life skills such as money management and finding employment. From our program, we have found that 93% began budgeting and 42% became more confident in their ability to save money.

We have also developed and shipped over 4000 reusable learning aids to assist primary school children in Sierra Leone, who were unable to read and do basic mathematics. These learning aids have helped educate over 16,000 children across 16 primary schools.

Planet Hope is expanding rapidly and our educational aids are reaching out to more places than ever. This year we will assist refugees on the Thai-Burma Border and work with individuals in the Redfern-Waterloo region to empower them with employment skills and opportunities.

If you believe that education leads to success, Planet Hope is calling for you.

Planet Hope has improved the fundamental literacy and numeracy skills of primary school children in Sierra Leone by developing, producing and shipping 4000 reusable laminated learning aids. They cover key basic learning areas gathered from extensive consultation with Australian primary school teachers and Sierra Leoneans.

Through a partnership with the Australian Red Cross, Planet Hope has empowered young mothers to be financially independent through a series of engaging workshops. The workshops thoroughly explored employment issues, included constructing resumes and cover letters and job interviews preparation. The workshops also covered financial management, which focused on helping young mothers to develop and adhere to a budget.
